The story

Instead of a tote bag, Cursor's first developer conference Compile (Fort Mason, San Francisco, 16 June 2026) ran a keyboard bar. With MKRO and Wonder, a Keychron parts station let 500+ attendees build their own mechanical keyboard on the spot: pick a case, choose switches, pull keycaps from bins and assemble it with help from builders. Every board was different, but each got the purple Tab key, Cursor's nod to Tab autocomplete. The 'look what I built' photos took over X that afternoon.

What stands out

Letting people build their own swag makes every piece unique and makes the making the memory. The purple Tab key is a tiny product joke that ties it all together.
